This is story of village Barbaspur under Bagbahara Block of Mahasamund District under Chhattisgarh State. The people of this village belong to most backward and poor. This village is gender biased and thus the condition of the women is pathetic. However, PARDA, partner of TATA Trusts stated its skill development programme for all the targeted youths (Male & Female)of the said Bagbahara Block.

During the counseling process at Barbaspur village by the staff of PARDA, a huge number of female candidate take interest for developing their skill through this programme. As per the demand of these female candidates, Concerned staff of PARDA fixed a separate Advance technology based counseling programme & discover their skill/ area of interest for Handicraft activities. 

Before initiating the training programme on Handycraft activity, Staff of PARDA stated forming  a Common Interest Group- CIG ( or say SHG) with a view to get rid them from the aimless & Sorrow life. The basic idea was not to function as a mere thrift and saving group, but to emerge as an enterprising unit to ensure income to every member staying within the group. After having understood the details of the plan and business feasibility of earning by working together, the Counseled candidates expressed their total willingness to start the Handy craft Business. A group of 22nos. female candidates were interested and a group was formed and given training by the technical help of Pidilite Company, Odisha branch  under the Skill Initiative for Informal Sector Workers Programme of PARDA on the said craft. Generally these training course containing making of Paper Bags, Making of crafts on west glass bottles, Different printing on T shirt & Chunaries, Making of craft on West stone & Tile pieces, Making of Liquid Embroidery on different ladies dress materials & Making of Hand kerchief as per the nearest market demand. Training period consisting 6 days, Out of which 3 days are refresher-training days.

Now, the group with Rs. 10000 as capital raised Handicraft activity  in Barbaspur Village and also in the nearest markets and In last month group make profit Rs.3500/- from this business at Bhilaie Sarasa Mela, Raipur.
